Weekly Email: Week 6 Term 1

Dear Parents and Guardians

Annual General Meeting 11th March 7.00 pm in the Training Room

We urge all parents to attend this most important annual event. To obtain a quorum at least 53 parents must be present. The AGM is an opportunity to hear from current board members about 2019 and to participate in the election of new board members and the new PTFA Chair for 2020. Meetings usually last no more than one and a half hours and light refreshments will be provided. The School will also run a creche for younger children on the night. The Board would like to hear from anyone interested in becoming either a board member or the Chair of PTFA (who also sits on the Board). Please call Tony Baron personally on either 30186 or 7321385 to receive further details.

Book Week

Next week is Book Week and the theme is: “ Curious creatures, Wild minds

Students can bring in books they want to swap from Monday 9- Wednesday 11 March. The books need to be in good condition.

Book Donation: Monday 9- Friday 13 March.

Each year during Book Week we asked students to donate books they don’t want any more. These books will go to schools in our community. The books you donate need to be in good condition.

Parent Readers

During Book Week we encourage parents to come in and read to a year level. If you are interested to come in and read your favourite story, please contact the class teacher to schedule a suitable time.

Book Week Parade: Friday 13 March

Each Year level has chosen a book as their focus for the Book Week. Students are encouraged to come dressed as a character from that book for the Book Week Parade, which is part of the Book Week Assembly at 8:30 am on Friday 13 March.

Woodford's Got Talent (WGT)

WGT auditions will run from Thursday 5th March to Wednesday 11th March in the Music room during lunchtime.

Secondary Department

a. Assessments

Assessments are currently underway, please continue to support your child/ren with their time management, assignments and study schedule.

b. Punctuality

The last couple of weeks, there has been an increase in the number of students arriving late for school. Students who arrive late miss homeroom time and the beginning of their first lesson; this means that they miss important information and often disrupt the teaching and learning of others.
